Zeddy's Clean Sweep

Something has got into the machine.

Bugs are loose on the  Spectrum circuit board — a spinning Commodore logo, a shimmering BBC owl, an ice-eating IBM logo and an Apple that chases you down — and it's up to Zeddy, the little cleaning droid, to sweep them up.

Push the blocks. Squash the bugs. Kick a block and it slides until it hits something, flattening any bug in its way. A block that can't move shatters. Clear every bug to finish the level.

Features

• 50 levels plus a four-part tutorial, each with its own coloured circuit-board floor
• Four kinds of bug, each with its own habits — one wanders, one eats the ice, one hunts you
• Stun them: kick a wall and every bug touching it is dazed — walk into one for 100 points
• Chain squashes: every extra bug in the same slide doubles the points — 10, 20, 40, 80…
• Unite the Sinclair logo — push its three pieces together for a 1000-point bonus and a Spectrum-stripe celebration
• Red Cross blocks for extra lives, if you can get to them before the bugs do
• Caravan mode: two minutes, no lives, as many points as you can
• Three difficulty levels, redefinable keys, Kempston and cursor-key joysticks, high-score tables

48K and 128K

Both versions play exactly the same game. The 128K version adds:

• AY music — the Skaters' Waltz, arranged in full for the title, and a quicker version in-game (M turns it off)
• AY sound effects
• Extra animation — Zeddy's walk and kick, turning and flapping bugs, and bugs squashed flat
• An attract-mode demo on the title screen

Play

Download the tapes and open them in any ZX Spectrum emulator — Fuse, ZEsarUX, Spectaculator, SpecEmu. On real hardware: LOAD "" on a 48K, or Tape Loader on a 128K / +2.

Controls

• Q A O P — up, down, left, right
• SPACE — kick
• ENTER — pause
• R — restart the level
• T — skip the tutorial
• M — music on / off (128K)
